I choose to look hard
If I’m in the store or at the pool or in the gym, random people often comment on how my body looks. Of course I like the attention, but I don’t really think anything special about my body.
I guess working in the gym and being around fit looking people every day makes it pretty “standard” to look strong. Some days I haven’t even looked myself in a mirror all day.
In my sport Crossfit, looks doesn’t matter, the only thing that counts is your performance. But with hard work comes the looks as well, and that’s a great little perk.
I would lie if I say I personally don’t care about how I look. I do want to look in a certain way and I work pretty hard to stay that way.
I’m soon 45 and my body is definitely not responding in a way it used to, my genetics is not that great as you might think. Everything I do in my daily life counts! My sleep, my food, my training, my recovery!
I can’t just binge out and slack off for weeks and then expect my body to perform and look the way I want to. I can’t train as much as I could when I was younger.
I store fat like any other woman, and I have a lot of fat cells in my body that are just waiting for the chance to fill up! I have injuries like any other athlete and I have a life outside the gym as every other mother of small children. I’m no different to anyone else, I work hard for getting my body to perform well.
I certainly work hard for what I got! Other women might choose a career where there is no time for exercise and that’s their choice.
I know plenty of people in my surroundings that eat far to much junk (thinking they don’t), drink a few to many per week, smoke and reward themselves treats on a daily basis (saying they don’t). l don’t judge, but if they ask for my advice I will not give them rainbows and unicorns! I will tell them the truth.
…No one wants to hear the truth, trust me!
Usually after asking for my advice people (not my clients) immediately regret themselves when they realize it requires so much hard work and dedication.
Nope, its not my profession nor my great genetics that make me look or perform this way. It’s my will to do so and a choice I make every day. You can do it to! All it requires is a little bit of will power.
